Which gloves should I choose?

Warmer days/climates:
The best summer motorcycle gloves for Australia are the Thumpas. They come in 3 versions:
- Gen 1 - Made from a perforated leather which is a great way to get heaps of airflow through the gloves while also utilising the excellent abrasion resistance of leather. They come in a simple classic design made from distressed brown leather.
- Gen 2 - Built from the Gen 1 Thumpas but with some key differences. They incorporate stretchy material in the low risk areas between the fingers which allow for better movement and great airflow, the material that works on phones is moved to the fingertips for easier use of phones/GPS while keeping the gloves on, and the higher risk palm area has been reinforced with an highly abrasion resistant Aramid material. These come in a perforated black leather.
- Gen 3 - The same as the Gen 2 Thumpas but with some further changes. These come with a slightly longer wrist for better protection in the wrist, both from the road and the sun! (Especially if you have longer arms). The palm area also gains soft impact absorbers that help with vibrations and absorbing some of the impact in the case of a crash. The fingers also gain some ribboning for aesthetics and better movement.

Medium temp days:
- The Originals are a great allrounder. They have a gauntlet which reduces the amount of air going up the sleeve and use an unperforated leather in a classic distressed brown finish.
- The Sluggas in tan suede are another great option for mild to warm days. They are a short glove in suede which let in a little more air than a regular unperforated leather. They also quite a unique look!

Cold/wet weather:
- The Double Length Originals and Classics are the go to! These are the most popular winter motorcycle gloves on offer. They have a leather outside for abrasion protection, a Hipora layer for water resistance and Thinsulate to keep your hands warm! Available in black or brown leather.

What are good motorcycle gloves?

'Good' depends on a few factors. In choosing a good pair of motorcycle gloves you want to choose a pair that:
A) Protects your hands - Leather is the best for its superior abrasion resistance over synthetic materials. Also choose a pair with hard knuckle protection (good for front protection ie running into something) and reinforced palms (which is the part most likely need extra abrasion resistance).
B) Suits your climate/season - The best gloves are the ones you actually wear! Its a good idea to have several pairs of gloves to suit hot/cold/wet days. Perforated short gloves are great for warm days as they let lots of air in. Thicker gloves with a longer gauntlet (wrist sleeve part) are good for cold days as they insulate your hands more and you can also tuck your jacket sleeve into the glove to stop cold air going up the sleeve.
C) Quality - Look for gloves with good reviews and that look well made.

Are motorcycle gloves supposed to be tight?

Ideally you want them 'snug' but not restrictive. If they are too loose they may come off in a slide easier. In the end it comes down to personal preference as its the gloves you are actually wearing that help best in a crash!

Why wear motorcycle gloves?

To put it bluntly do you like your hands having skin on them?!
